Carol J Scott

       

        Carol J. Scott died peacefully at Hospice of Cincinnati on March 14th 2014 after a year long struggle with malignancies.  Carol is survived by her husband John, and by their sons Kevin (Rochester NY) and Trevor (Rohnert Park, CA.)  Carol was the first born daughter of the late Irma and Fred Steuernagel of Bond Hill (Cincinnati).  Carol graduated from Walnut Hills High School and attended Ohio University.  She graduated from University of Cincinnati, with both Bachelor's and Master’s degrees, and later became a licensed mental health therapist.

        Carol was very active in many organizations involving women, biology, psychology, nature, and First Unitarian Church of Cincinnati. A memorial service is planned in her honor on Saturday April 5, 2014 at 10am at the First Unitarian Church,  536 Linton st, Cincinnati, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be directed to either National Cancer Society,  or,  Carol Scott Tree Grove, c/o Director, Arc of Appalachia, 7660 Cave Road, Bainbridge, OH 45612.        

Jerrold "Jerry" Snelling

Jerrold “Jerry” Lynn Snelling of Cincinnati, OH, died on Wednesday, March 19, at The Christ Hospital, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born May 7, 1940 in Yuma, CO, the son of the late Roy and Ethel Snelling.  He was the second youngest of 7 children.  He retired from General Electric in 2002, where he worked in Facilities Maintenance for 25 years.  He served in the US Army in Korea from 1963 to 1965. 

Jerry met Gloria Ann Zimmerman in December 1965. They were married 6 months later in June 1966. They were married nearly 48 years.

Jerry had many likes and interests.  He enjoyed being with his family more than anything else.  His hobbies were whatever connected him with his family.  He was a hard working man. What made him special is that most of this work was for others. He was always helping someone else, often hard manual labor.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Gloria, his sons Bradley (wife Lisa), Brian (wife Janella), daughter Leanna (husband Jonathan) Pitcher, 7 grandchildren, Matthew, Anna, Jacob, Jenna, Lindsey, Aubrey, Luke, two brothers, Leonard and Gary (wife Joan), and two sisters Carla and Lila.

Besides his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother Wilbur and sister Edith, brothers-in-law Morris Harr, Don Harr, Mike Aageson, and sister-in-law Honelore Snelling.

Visitation will be held at the Franklin Bible Methodist Church from 4-8 PM on Friday March 21.  The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11 AM, also at the Franklin Bible Methodist Church 6000 Dixie Hwy.  The commitment will follow immediately at the North Monroe Cemetery.  Following this, there will be a full meal served in the Family Ministries at the Franklin Bible Methodist Church.

Eunice Dean Wohl

Eunice Dean, beloved wife of the late Irvin (Hookey) Wohl and devoted mother to Michael Johnson, Kathy Sasser, Dale Johnson, Jonna Ledyard, James Wohl and Joseph Wohl.  Grandmother to 14 and great-grandmother to 11.  A meet and greet will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at General Butler State Park in the Woodland Room starting at 1pm with a service beginning at 2pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Organization of your choice.

Patricia “Faye” McCarthy

On January 27, Patricia “Faye” McCarthy left this life, stepping into the loving light of the Holy Spirit. Pat was born to the late Albert Hogg and Stella Howard. in 1930. She was raised as “Faye” with her sisters, at the Children’s Home in Hamilton. Patricia was known for her kind, generous nature and well appointed, fashionable appearance. She enjoyed socializing, shopping, and reading. Pat loved her family and friends, and received great joy spending time with her great-grandchildren; Savannah, Blake, and Bryce. She began her early career as a photographer for Mabley & Carew in Cincinnati. Pat spent years in sales and after retirement enjoyed a position as a Greeter at Meijer’s in Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin McCarthy in 1968; her two sisters Betty Reynolds and Bea Thomas. She was the proud mother of Bridget (Mike) McCarthy-Osswald of Wayne Twp. & Greg (Mook) McCarthy of Thailand; Grandmother of Richard (Lacey) McCarthy of Mt. Orab, & her sweet Scarlet (Jason) Holmes of Ross Twp.; she had five beautiful great-grandchildren, special nephew & niece Chris & Sally Grenner; special cousin Charles Morrison of TN.; many other relatives and friends. Pat also leaves her caring Schroder family of friends & staff. There will be a Funeral Mass for her at Schroder (Bradford Place) 1302 Millville Ave. in Hamilton, Thursday February 6, at 10:30 with Fr. Mike Pucke officiating. Gene Frank Goldschmidt

Gene Frank Goldschmidt, better known as the Horseradish and Mustard King of Cincinnati, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014. He was born in 1948. Gene is survived by his wife and true love, Ingeborg Goldschmidt; his daughter, Rya Goldschmidt Lawrence and son-in-law Tom Lawrence and two beautiful grandchildren, Gavin and Grace; his stepson, Christopher Scott and daughter-in-law Amy Scrivner. He is also survived by his brother Don Goldschmidt (Shari), his sisters Bette Kraus (Larry), and Mary Kristofferson (Tim). Gene is also survived by loving nieces and nephews Eileen (Brian), Debbie (Todd), Lisa, Mark (Christina), Glen (Michelle), Andrea (Jason), Patrick (Julie), and Ryan. He is also survived by numerous cousins and extended family. Gene’s parents, Raymond & Helen Goldschmidt, preceded him in death.

    One of Gene’s greatest passions in life was food. He was known around town for his mustard and horseradish business, Organic Cornucopia. He was an early pioneer during the revitalization of Findlay Market and was much beloved by market vendors and shoppers. Gene, quite literally, crowned himself the King of Horseradish and Mustard, after his stepson presented him with a bejeweled crown. Worn with a slight tilt and a twinkle in his eye, the King provided shoppers with some of the best mustard and horseradish His customers were drawn to his enthusiasm, offbeat humor, and his ability to talk to anyone about anything. Close behind his love for his family was his love for the members of Cincinnati’s food community. He thrived on the ideas, creativity, friendly arguments, and camaraderie.

    The King will be missed. Gene’s family thanks everyone for their outpouring of love and support. No funeral services will be held. In keeping with Gene’s wishes, a life celebration will be held. Homer (Jr.) E. Mann

Homer (Jr.) E. Mann of Cincinnati, OH passed away at the age of 68 on December 17, 2013 beloved husband of Elaine (Eckes) Mann, loving father of Michele, Leslie, and Valerie, father-in-law of Barry Young, grandfather of Kyle, Ivy, Clayton, Evelyn, Casey, and Corey, great grandfather to Lorelei and KK. Brother to Ruby, Ramona, and Marvin, brother-in-law to Bob (deceased), Jim, Marie, George & Lavo...nne, Richard & Peggy, Rose & Will, Paul & Kathy, Ray, and Martha. Jr. retired as a labor organizer for the teamsters who always fought for the rights of the working man.
Jr. was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fly fishing and trips to Colorado with his father and brother and trips to Gatlinburg with his whole family. Jr. enjoyed watching UC & Bengal's football and boxing.

Steven Poe

Steven Poe November 9, 2013 age 53

Preceded in death by his father Boyd. Survived by his mother Mary and brother Michael, son Ryan, nephews Conor, Aidan and niece Eva.

After finishing a six year term with the Army, Steve got his associates degree in physical education and fitness instruction as well as a black belt in Tae Kwon Doe. He taught many others the benefits of staying healthy and self defense.

He will be missed by all.

Edward M Woods

Edward M Woods of Norwood, OH died on October 20, 2013 at Hospice of Cincinnati at Blue Ash. He is survived and missed greatly by his loving wife and family.  A memorial service will be held in his honor, a time and date are yet to be determined.

Allisyn Lewis

Allisyn Susan Nobby Lewis of Lebanon, Ohio died on October 18, 2013 at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash. A memorial service will be held at the Lebanon Presbyterian Church at a time not yet determined.

Carlyon Lee McMahan

Carlyon Lee McMahan, died on October 5, 2013 at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash, she is survived and missed by her loving family.

Linda Heimbach

Linda Ingeborg Heimbach, 74, beloved wife of the late Lawrence Heimbach, passed away in the loving care of her children on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. Born October 13, 1938 in Germany, she is survived by her two brothers, Wolfgang Troeger and Roland Troeger; three daughters, Susan Jacobs, Lori Pegg and Linda Hazelbaker; one son, David Heimbach; nine grandchildren, Zachary, Andrew, Katie, Makenzie, Leah, Lily, Sofie, Nora and Ethan. Memorial services were held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Evergreen Retirement Community from 3-5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials were made to Hospice of Cincinnati, P.O. Gayle B. Weston

Gayle B. Weston, 1937 - 2013, dedicated mother and friend, passed away on July 30, 2013, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.  Gayle loved to travel and was passionate about world cultures and the arts.  She was a docent at the Cincinnati Art Museum for twenty-three years and an avid gardener.  At the age of 46, Gayle graduated from the University of Cincinnati, demonstrating that it is never too late to accomplish your goals.  Gayle approached life with humor and wit. Her family and friends gave her daily strength.  Gayle's lasting legacy is her family, Lisa Abrams (Terry); Carol Firmage (John); Scott Weston (Julie); Lynn Ward (Matt); dedicated companion, Stanley Wacksman and his children; sister, Pat Gatherum; and twelve amazing grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cincinnati Art Museum, The Beechwood Home, or a charity of Choice. Florence "Dolly" Anna Prack

Florence Anna Prack "Dolly" died peacefully on May 26, 2013 after a short illness. Born in Braddock, Pennsylvania, Dolly was preceded in death by her husband Arthur; her parents, Rafael and Julia Czernek; and her brothers, Ralph, Edmund and Raymond Czernek.  She is survived by daughters Linda (Edward) Snodgrass, Laura (Don) Horn, Donna (Doug) Fortenberry, son Arthur (Lyda) Prack, stepson Earl (Joan) Prack and sister Regina Cenname. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She loved her family, her church, and Summers Best Two Weeks Camp.  A celebration in her memory will be held at Northmister Presbyterian Church, 703 Compton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio on June 29, 2013 at 3:00 pm.  Memorial  contributions may be made to Summers Best Two Weeks, 111 Lake Gloria Drive, Boswell, Pa. 15531-2509. 

Boyd Lee Poe

Boyd Lee Poe, May 23 2013, age 81

Beloved husband of Mary Poe(nee Moore) of 54 years. Father to Steven and Michael. Grandfather to Ryan, Conor, Aidan and Eva. Preceded in death by his parents Norman and Eva Mae Poe, sisters Phyllis and Betty Lou. Survived by his brothers Marvin, and Norman Jr., sisters Shirley Walker and Patty Thrasher.

After serving 8 years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and Reserves after,where he honed his love of mechanical and civil engineering. He worked as a machinist and tool designer for several firms including Continental Plastic Container for 38 years. After his retirement in 2001 he indulged in his hobbies of spending time with his grand kids, photography and visiting Civil War battlefields.

Scott Aiken

Scott Aiken, age 77, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 after a long career in journalism & public relations.   He is survived by partner and wife Anne,  children, Alex (Jennifer), Christopher, Colleen, Guy, Luke;  loving stepchildren, Les (Tanda), Kate (Rich), Sarah (John);  8 grandchildren.  Born in Boston Mass.,  Scott was educated at St. Marks, Wesleyan University (Conn), and Columbia University, followed by a Fulbright Fellowship to France.  Services will be private.  Memorials may be made online:  HospiceofCincinnati.org.  Please share your memories & farewells on Scott Aiken's Facebook page.

Shirley Ann Wilhite,

Wilhite, Shirley Ann (nee Walker) age 72, of Atlanta, GA, passed away, Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Hospice of Cincinnati, the Blue Ash location.

The daughter of Clarence and Lera B (Robinson) Walker, was born January 27, 1940 in Kirksville, Missouri.  She resided in Green City until she was united in marriage to the late Donovan Wilhite Jr and to this union a son and a daughter were born.

Shirley is survived by her son, Don (Carol) Wilhite of Atlanta, GA; her daughter Teresa (Richard) Hauke of Cincinnati, OH; two grandchildren, Donovan IV (Alex) and Richard; four step-grandchildren, Tina, Mark, Rhea and Jackie; nine step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandchild; her sister Clarice Shemwell of Jefferson City, Missouri.

Before her retirement, she was employed at Kirksville Manor Care as a medical technician. In 1996, after the death of her husband, she moved away to Atlanta to be closer to her family.  In her later years she enjoyed being on her computer,  playing online games or  tracking family and friends on facebook. She loved being with her family and treasured the trips back and forth from Georgia to Cincinnati to spend time with them.
